Electric cars are happening nowadays because this is considered to be the most effective way to reduce fossil fuel consumption. Many countries in the world have also showed their commitments to support this technology in a way to reach their carbon target.
Indeed, the carbon reduction achievable of electric cars is so large that it is considered to be the best way to reduce our carbon emission. In addition, choosing electric cars is also so easy that everyone can do it without additional works needed.
However, there is some stereotype in the public saying that electric cars are not as good as conventional fossil fuel cars. Some say that electric cars are slower and cannot accelerate as good as conventional fossil fuel cars.
If you belong to those who think that electric cars are worse than conventional cars, you have to check these beaus.
Acura NSX
Like mentioned above, we are not talking about electric SUV, nor electric sedan, but electric supercar. For your information, the future of supercars is likely to go toward the greener side. Ferrari, who claimed will never build an electric supercar, stated that they are planning to build one.
Well, so the world has recognized its existence and you know now that they exist. To start the list, we give you a hint of it by Acura NSX. Being released starting from $156.000, this car carries out 573 horsepower.
NSX can blast from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.7 seconds and reach 191 MpH top speed. To achieve that, the car is equipped with twin-motor unit to power both front wheels. The car is hiding a V-6 engine under its cap that is controllable with nine-speed DCT transmission.
LVCHI Auto Venere
Talking about technology, there is one country that will always be mentioned, China. The Chinese company, LVCHI Auto is producing an electric car that will utilize four electric motors, one for each wheel, to accelerate into joining the electric supercar market.
Carrying 100 kWh battery as its power source, the electric supercar entitled ‘Venere’ is claimed to have total power output of 992 horsepower. That much energy will help the car to jump from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in a jolt, as quick as NSX.
LVCHI Auto claimed that this Venere can be driven for up to 311 miles in one full charging, it means that the owners of this car will have to be less worried about finding a charging station on the road. The prototype has been showed in 2018 Geneva motor show, but the company has not released how much it will cost.
Techrules Ren RS
Another Chinese company, Techrules, apparently is also joining the electric supercar market race. But unlike those two electric supercars mentioned above, the company concentrated on making a racetrack supercar entitled the Ren RS.
Being a hybrid, the car is powered by both 28.4 kWh battery and some additional fuel, the company claimed the car running on both fuel will produce total output of 1,287 horsepower. Total length that one full charge and full tank is said to be able to reach is more than 700 miles.
This car can also reach the 100 kilometers per hour speed from static position in just three seconds. Well, indeed it is a little bit slower compared to the two electric cars above, maybe because of the additional fuel factor.
Rimac ‘Concept Two’
Arguably one of the most established electric supercar producer, the Croatian auto company Rimac has also released its newest electric supercar concept. Following the success of its predecessor Concept One, Rimac’s newest supercar Concept Two is ready to ride down to the market floor.
The second generation of Rimac’s supercar is equipped with astounding 120 kWh battery. The battery is supposed to be able to produce 1,914 horsepower which will be distributed to all four wheels it has with all-wheel-drive system.
The company claimed to be able to make this car to run from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in about two seconds – if this car is not that big, most people will think that it is a bullet. Not only that, the car is also equipped with Lever Four, the self-driving autonomy.
Talking about the price, you might want to start saving from now if you want to buy a new one. The company will release this electric supercar to the market with $1.5 million price tag. Looking on the price, there is no wonder that this car offers such ‘ridiculous’ features.
Tesla Roadster
Talking about supercars, we can mention many companies producing it. But talking about electric supercar, there is one company that will always come to our minds: Tesla. Yes, the company which was founded in 2003 has drawn world’s attention by producing an incredible supercar, Roadster.
Since the ‘Roadster’ has been reviewed with more details in many other websites, here in this article we will not talk about it. instead, we will talk about the second generation of ‘Roadster’ which is going to enter the production house in 2020.
“It’ll be faster than that jet over there,” said the CEO of Tesla, the infamous Ellon Musk about his expected baby. He claimed that this car will be able to break the two-second wall and jolt from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 1.9 seconds.
Not only that, if you want to convert the metric system into imperial system, Musk said that this car would be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 miles per hour in just 4.2 seconds and sprint quarter mile in just 8.9 seconds.
The second Roadster will be equipped with 200 kWh battery that can reach 1000 kilometers per charge, which is further than most fossil fueled vehicles can reach with its full tank. “The point of doing this is to give a hardcore smackdown to gasoline cars,” said Musk.
If you compare the features between the prototype to Rimac’s Concept Two you might think that this car would cost millions of dollars. But apparently it is not, the 2020 car is going to be released for just about $200,000.
